A fully resourced Yr7 RE lesson exploring the enquiry question “Is religion a celebration?”, designed as the final lesson in a KS3 unit on religion and belief.
Pupils build on prior learning about festivals, places of worship and pilgrimage, evaluating whether religion should be understood primarily as a celebration or something more complex.

The lesson includes a supporting reading activity, helping students consider both the celebratory aspects of religion (such as festivals and community) and the more serious or reflective elements (such as worship, fasting and funerals).

Students then complete a creative “You might think… but actually…” task, encouraging them to challenge misconceptions about religion and present deeper understanding through a class display.

-Includes reading resource with glossary
-Encourages evaluation and critical thinking
-Engaging creative outcome suitable for KS3
-Designed to fill a full lesson

Ideal as a final or reflective lesson within a KS3 RE unit on religion and belief.

I have done this with two of my yr7 classes so far and it went really well. They enjoyed it and made a really good piece of work. Handy for displays or open evenings :)
