This fully resourced two-week explanation writing unit focuses on the science of Pitch and Volume. Pupils will learn how sounds are made, how pitch and volume change, and why these changes are useful—all while developing the skills to write clear, well-structured explanation texts.

Following Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction, each lesson is carefully sequenced to build writing confidence and subject understanding. Pupils will explore real-world examples and practical applications of pitch and volume while mastering grammar features such as conjunctions, expanded noun phrases, and fronted adverbials
