On the way down
Computing science:Ìýdown 21 per cent (from 4,099 to 3,228).
French: down 10 per cent (from 3,780 to 3,417 entries).
The social sciences: geography, history and modern studies.ÌýModern studies saw the biggest drop in entries, down 7 per cent (from 9,334 to 8,653).
Design and manufacture: down 20 per cent (from 2,820 to 2,248).

Engineering science: up 9 per cent (from 1,014 to 1,110 entries).
The sciences: (chemistry, biology and physics). Biology saw the biggest rise in entries, up 5 per cent (from 7,305 to 7,685).
Spanish:Ìýup 9 per cent after a dip last year (from 2,795 entries to 3,054).
Human biology: up 5 per cent (from 5,937 to 6,259).
