Three audio transcripts were recovered from the security office, but the grammar is a mess, the spelling is failing, and the punctuation is missing completely. These corrupted files need to be cleaned before they can be entered into the permanent case file.

Your students must act as editing specialists, repairing the transcripts so the final messages can be understood. This three-level editing challenge gradually increases in difficulty, encouraging students to identify and correct errors while strengthening key KS2 SPaG skills.

The Three Levels
Level 1 covers sentence boundaries, capitalization, commas in a list, and apostrophes.
Level 2 adds possessive and plural apostrophes, verb tense agreement, and introductory phrases.
Level 3 introduces relative clauses, parentheses, colons, and semicolons.
A Greater Depth extension task asks students to analyse the corrected transcripts and answer four inference-based questions about the outbreak.
