A fully resourced Yr8 PSHE lesson exploring gender norms, stereotypes and identity, designed as a final reflection and assessment lesson within a wider safeguarding unit.

Pupils examine the difference between biological sex and socially constructed gender expectations, considering how society influences ideas about masculinity and femininity. The lesson encourages students to think critically about stereotypes and assess whether gender norms are based on truth or shaped by culture and expectation.

As part of the lesson, students return to the original assessment sheet, repeating the baseline knowledge check and reflecting on how their understanding has developed across the unit. This provides clear evidence of progress and impact, supporting PSHE and safeguarding documentation.

  • Includes end-point assessment and structured reflection task
  • Supports delivery of statutory RSHE content on respect, equality and identity (2026 guidance)
  • Encourages balanced, age-appropriate discussion of gender and identity
  • Designed to consolidate learning on misogyny, online harm and respectful behaviour

Designed to fill a full lesson, this resource is ideal as the final lesson in a PSHE module on gender equality and safeguarding.
