Start the new school year with confidence with Your First Week of Year 6, a ready to use three day transition pack designed to help teachers welcome their new class, build positive relationships and establish the foundations for a successful year.

Rather than filling the entire first week with icebreakers, this resource focuses on the first three days, giving pupils time to settle in, reflect, collaborate and look ahead before gradually moving into normal classroom routines and teaching.

Day 1: Welcome to Year 6 focuses on getting to know one another, building a positive class community, establishing expectations and helping pupils feel excited about the year ahead.

Day 2: Me Now & Me in Ten Months gives pupils the opportunity to capture who they are at the beginning of Year 6, reflect on their strengths and achievements, set meaningful goals and think about the person they hope to become by the end of primary school.

Day 3: The Year 6 Challenge brings the class together through a series of engaging team missions involving communication, reasoning, problem solving and collaboration. Pupils must listen to one another, share ideas and work together to complete the challenges.

The pack includes pupil activity sheets, teacher led classroom presentations, reflection and goal setting activities, teamwork challenges, a teacher guide and supporting answer materials.

Activities have been designed to be flexible and low preparation. Teachers can complete the three days in full or simply select the activities that best suit their class, timetable and school routines.

Perfect for teachers looking for a purposeful alternative to a week filled entirely with traditional icebreakers.
