This year 3 and 4 statutory words spelling pack contains a selection of resources designed to help pupils learn words from the year 3 and 4 statutory word list in Appendix 1 of the English National Curriculum.Words are organised into eleven word lists, making them easier to teach in manageable sections. The resource includes the following:

• Teaching PPT -Each word list is shown on a separate slide with suggested activities which will help pupils practise spelling and using the words.

• Word List Posters -Each word list appears on its own page in a large font. These could be displayed on a working wall whilst pupils are learning the set spellings.

• Look Cover Write Check Sheets -Pupils can use these sheets independently to practise spelling using the look, cover, write, check method. There are eleven LCWC sheets which contain the spelling lists, plus one editable blank sheet which can be adapted and used to practise specific words.

• Correct the Spelling Worksheets -These worksheets help pupils reinforce their spelling knowledge by correcting misspelt words from the word list.

• Match the Meaning Worksheets -This activity challenges pupils to think about both the spelling and the meaning of each word.

• Dictation Sentences - Words from each list have been placed in simple sentences for dictation. This helps pupils practise the words in context and strengthens their understanding of basic sentence writing.

• Word Mat -This word mat includes all the Year 3 and 4 statutory words in alphabetical order. Pupils could use it as a reference during writing activities. It could also be sent home to provide parents with an overview of the full word list.
