WJEC Level 3 Applied Criminology — Unit 1 Controlled Assessment Note-Taking Booklet
Get your students Band 3/4 ready before they even step into the controlled assessment.
A fully branded, printable student note-taking booklet for WJEC Level 3 Applied Criminology Unit 1: Changing Awareness of Crime. Each Assessment Criterion has its own dedicated section, scaffolded with sub-topic boxes, prompts and ruled writing lines — sized to recommended word counts derived from full-mark exemplars.
This is the booklet I designed for my own students after years of marking and moderating Unit 1 controlled assessments. The structure does the heavy lifting so students focus on the content.

What makes this different

Word counts that actually work. Every box is sized to a Band 3/4 word target, derived from real Band 3/4 student responses — not guesswork.
AC-by-AC scaffolding. Each Assessment Criterion is broken into its required sub-topics with subtle prompts (Definition · Examples · Case study · Judgement) so students know exactly what to capture.
Lesson-ready. Designed to be filled in during teaching, not as a last-minute revision aid. By the end of the unit, every box is filled and students walk into the controlled assessment with a complete, structured set of notes.
Print-ready. Landscape A4 with ruled writing lines, brand-styled in teal and charcoal. Looks professional in students’ folders.
Built-in readiness checklist. 18-item self-check at the end so students can confirm they’ve covered everything before submission.
