A complete, no-prep 100-mark worksheet on the Anthropocene - ready to use for lessons, homework, or revision with KS3 Geography students aged 11-14. The Anthropocene is a proposed new geological epoch marking the period in Earth’s history when human activity has had a major impact on the planet.

Structured across three sections of progressive difficulty: Section 1 (30 marks) covers geological time periods, the Holocene epoch, and the basic definition of the Anthropocene through multiple choice questions, a true/false table, a fill-in-the-blank summary, and definition writing. Section 2 (40 marks) builds understanding through short answer questions on the two proposed start dates (the Industrial Revolution and the Great Acceleration), a comparison table, and an explanation of why the Anthropocene is still debated. Section 3 (30 marks) challenges students with extended writing on humanity’s impact on Earth’s systems, an evaluation of a recent scientific vote on the Anthropocene, and an analysis of geological evidence. A full answer key with detailed marking guidance is included.

Also available: a companion extension pack with four enrichment activities, or save £1 with the complete lesson bundle - both listed on the iNewittAll TES store.
