Every child deserves a way to be understood. These original Visual Choice & Communication Cards give non-speaking and emerging communicators a calm, low-arousal way to ask, choose and take part — at their own pace, and always alongside their own voice.
WHO IT’S FOR
Ideal for autistic and non-speaking learners, emerging communicators, EAL beginners, nurture groups and any child who benefits from visual support to request, choose and join in. Early Years to KS2, and lovely for home too.
WHAT’S INSIDE (8 A4 pages, undated)
• A core-word board — 12 key words to point to (I want, help, more, finished, stop, wait, yes, no, toilet, drink, break, look)
• 16 cut-out request cards for everyday asks around the classroom and home
• An “I would like to…” activity choice board (reading, drawing, building, music, outside, tablet, puzzles, sensory play)
• A fill-in My Communication Passport so every adult can help a child feel understood
• A supportive teacher and parent how-to page
WHY TEACHERS LIKE IT
• Original hand-drawn icons and mascot — no PCS or Widgit-style symbols anywhere
• Large text, high contrast, one idea per card and generous white space
• Person-first, strengths-based wording — every way a child communicates is welcomed
• Designed to sit alongside speech, never to replace a child’s own voice
HOW TO USE
Model the cards as you talk, so the child sees them used — there is no pressure to respond. Offer two or three cards and honour whatever the child picks. Card, laminate and add a ring or hook-and-loop dots so the words travel with the child all day.
PRINTING
Print at 100% (Actual size) on A4. Card and laminate for durability. Undated. Personal and single-classroom use.
