Need demanding Year 11 Higher homework that develops genuine Grade 7–9 thinking without adding to planning? This Challenge edition provides 14 structured assignments for Half Term 2, combining current-topic practice with planned retrieval, examiner-report-informed misconceptions and non-routine reasoning.

The main teaching focus is velocity–time graphs and rates of change, followed by exponential functions and trigonometric graphs. Across 13 homeworks and a cumulative Mastery Checkpoint, pupils also revisit solving quadratics and simultaneous equations, sine and cosine rules, circle theorems, sequences, functions, vectors and vector proof. W-1, W-3, W-6 and W-12 tags make spaced retrieval visible.

Every assignment follows a consistent six-part journey:
• IGNITE — rapid retrieval and interleaving
• BUILD — current methods through deliberate variation
• DETECT — diagnose a commonly examiner-identified misconception
• PERFORM — GCSE-style application with marks and calculator guidance
• STRETCH — proof, generalisation, reverse reasoning and connected depth
• REFLECT — brief metacognitive review

Challenge comes from mathematical depth rather than extra repetition. Pupils interpret and critique methods, reverse-engineer models, connect representations, justify conclusions and tackle multi-step applications. Most assignments are designed for approximately 30–35 minutes.

This is a question booklet with no working space, so pupils answer in an exercise book, on paper or digitally. Complete answers and mark schemes provide methods, AO guidance, tolerances and examiner-style warnings, supporting efficient self-marking, cover or departmental use.
