A fun and practical Transition Year English Podcasting module that helps students develop confidence in speaking, listening, interviewing, scripting and media production.

This five-week module introduces students to podcasting and gives them the tools to plan, script, record and share their own podcast episode. Students explore podcast formats, speaking skills, interview techniques, storytelling, episode planning, recording, editing and publishing.

The module is ideal for TY English because it supports oral communication, creativity, teamwork and digital literacy in a hands-on way.

What’s included:

  • Teacher overview
  • Introduction to podcasting
  • Podcast review activity
  • Speaking and interviewing skills
  • Types of podcast questions
  • Episode planning worksheet
  • Script writing and structure
  • Recording and editing guidance
  • Equipment checklist
  • Peer feedback tasks
  • Publishing and sharing activity
  • Final podcast project
  • Reflection activities

Students will develop skills in communication, creativity, collaboration, planning, speaking, listening, interviewing, storytelling and digital media.

This resource works well for a five-week TY module and is suitable for mixed-ability classes. Students finish the module with a completed podcast episode and a stronger sense of confidence in using their own voice.
