A full-year Transition Year English programme designed to make TY English practical, creative and genuinely engaging for students. This resource includes a complete Scheme of Work for 2026/2027, weekly plans, and five ready-to-use student modules covering a full academic year.

The programme is built around five hands-on modules:

Module 1: Advertising & Persuasion
Students explore how adverts work, analyse slogans, logos, target audiences and persuasive techniques, and create their own advertising campaign.

Module 2: Journalism
Students learn about journalism, headlines, bias, fake news, fact-checking, opinion writing, interviews and feature writing. The module builds towards a class newspaper project.

Module 3: Creative Writing
Students develop confidence in writing through freewriting, six-word stories, “show, don’t tell”, sensory writing, character creation, dialogue, setting, atmosphere and writing from prompts.

Module 4: Podcasting & Media Production
Students learn about podcast formats, speaking skills, interviewing, storytelling, scripting, recording, editing and producing a final podcast project.

Module 5: Film Studies & Visual Storytelling
Students explore how films tell stories through camera angles, sound, symbolism, opening scenes, colour, costume, storyboarding and short film planning.
