Imagine the challenges of life on the frontier, where women homesteaders faced isolation, harsh climates, and endless labor to build a new life. This lesson explores their experiences and contributions in shaping the American West.

This lesson is the tenth in a unit on the American West. Students will consolidate their knowledge of women homesteaders and apply it to exam-style questions through interactive tasks.

All lessons in this series follow a consistent structure, supporting coherent learning and helping students track their progress:

LO 1: To understand the hardships of homesteading for women
LO 2: To examine case studies: the Colt and Warner families
LO 3: To evaluate the contribution of women to homesteading
