This is a lesson on this modern war poem which was written in response to Dulce est Decorum est by Wilfred Owen. So it makes sense to teach this after teaching that.

Attached is a Powerpoint, 2 different copies of the poem - A4 and A5 box with word boxes for problematic words.

  2. The slide explains the context of why this poem was written.
  3. There is a slide of the poem and a link to a video.
  4. A suggested apporach to analysing poems - WPSLOMP acrostic.
  5. There is a list of questions that students could attempt in pairs in response to the poem with a challenge task.
  6. Suggested extension - storyboard the poem task.

All activities have a challenge task.
