No install. No login. No subscription. Works offline.

This standalone HTML app is designed to support the teaching and learning of key characters from The Iron Man by Ted Hughes through structured interaction and misconception focused questioning. Built specifically for classroom use, it provides a fast and engaging way to develop character understanding with no installation, no login, no subscription and no internet connection required.

Simply download the file to your local device and open it in your browser. Everything runs locally on your computer.

Please review the screenshots and preview video to confirm the app meets your needs.

The app uses structured statement sorting activities to help pupils distinguish between accurate character interpretations and common misconceptions.

For each character and level, pupils are presented with 14 statement tiles, including 7 correct and 7 incorrect statements. Pupils drag the correct statements into the answer area, encouraging discussion, justification and careful interpretation of each character.

The resource includes 8 key characters from The Iron Man, each with 3 levels of difficulty. Lower levels focus on clear and explicit character traits, while higher levels require greater precision, deeper thinking and more careful interpretation of character behaviour and motives.

Characters are structured to revisit essential knowledge before progressing to more developed ideas, making the tool particularly effective for strengthening understanding, addressing misconceptions and supporting pupils as they build confidence with literary interpretation.

A clean, distraction free interface keeps pupils focused while the consistent layout makes the app suitable for a wide range of learners, including pupils who benefit from visual and interactive approaches.

Ideal for whole class teaching, live modelling, interactive whiteboards, guided practice, paired discussion, independent retrieval, starter activities, lesson checkpoints and intervention sessions.

This is an unofficial educational resource created for classroom use in schools and educational establishments. Full credit is given to Ted Hughes as the author of The Iron Man. This resource is not endorsed by or affiliated with the author, estate or publisher.

Teachers and pupils are strongly encouraged to read the original book The Iron Man by Ted Hughes alongside use of this tool. This resource supports discussion and interpretation and does not reproduce, retell or replace the original text.

As the app runs as a single HTML file, you may need to adjust your browser zoom level slightly to ensure all controls are fully visible depending on your screen size.
