Why is Earth the only planet with life? Introduce your pupils to the fascinating science of planetary climates with Part 3 of our Space Unit. This resource explores how distance from the Sun, atmospheric thickness, and gas composition determine a planet’s temperature. Pupils will discover the “Goldilocks Zone” and conduct a hands-on experiment to see how greenhouse gases trap heat.

While the thermometers are equilibrating, pupils can work through the atmospheric composition tasks. It is the perfect finale to a Space Unit, linking astronomy directly to environmental science and the search for alien life!
