In this lesson, students will work towards the objective: To identify key facts about the planets in our solar system.

They will be introduced to the eight planets and learn key facts about each one including which are the gas planets and which are rocky planets. They will learn about asteroids and comets and will complete their own independent research task on each planet in terms of key features.

The presentation- with links to online video clips and planet research sheet are all provided. A knowledge organiser for Earth & Space is also included.

This lesson is intended for Year 5 students but can easily be modified for all KS2 and KS3 students.
