Across school, we have adopted a whole class reading model (Reading with RIC) which replaces the previous carousel method. This pack allows accurate and rigorous teacher assessment as it addresses a different reading skill each day.

Pairing Non-Fiction with Fiction for better understanding.

I was using the narrative ‘The Lion and the Unicorn’ by Shirley Hughes in my English sessions and this non-fiction sheet provided the essential background knowledge to my WW2 topic, allowing discussion of the key vocabulary required.
