Transform PE into an adventure

The PE Shift Explorer Series is a complete 6-week Primary PE programme for Years 2–6, designed to develop fundamental movement skills, physical confidence, teamwork and resilience through storytelling, exploration and purposeful physical challenges.

Guided by explorers Ava and Kai, pupils progress through six themed missions, each with its own movement focus, challenges and final expedition. From balancing and jumping to pushing, carrying and teamwork, every mission encourages children to explore movement, solve problems, support others and celebrate their progress.

The programme has been designed to be ready to teach. Each mission is supported by a highly visual PowerPoint, while the accompanying Teacher Playbook provides preparation, teaching focuses, safety guidance and differentiation without unnecessary scripting.

The complete bundle includes:

6 fully designed Mission PowerPoints
Primary Teacher Playbook
Explorer Assessment Toolkit
Explorer Passport
Mission badges and Champion rewards
Certificates and celebration resources
Expedition Bingo
Base Camp Supply Cards
Ava & Kai Mission Cards

The six missions:

Mission 1 – Expedition Ready
Balance, body control and confidence.

Mission 2 – Ground Force
Squatting, stability and strong movement foundations.

Mission 3 – Sky Bound
Jumping, landing, coordination and control.

Mission 4 – Power Push
Pushing, strength, stability and teamwork.

Mission 5 – Carry On
Carrying, coordination, communication and endurance.

Mission 6 – The Ultimate Expedition
A final adventure combining skills from across the programme.

Assessment included

The Explorer Assessment Toolkit supports both formative and summative assessment across four child-friendly competencies:

Move | Work Together | Keep Going | Think

The Beginning – Developing – Achieving framework is intentionally flexible and can be aligned with a school’s existing assessment criteria, grading boundaries or reporting system. The framework is designed to support professional judgement rather than replace it.

Suitable for

Years 2–6 (approximately ages 6–11), with built-in differentiation to support different ages, abilities and levels of confidence.

Ideal for:

Primary PE
KS1/KS2 transition and KS2
Physical literacy
Fundamental movement skills
International schools
Specialist and non-specialist PE teachers
Teamwork and confidence development

The Explorer Series is built around a simple belief:
When PE feels like an adventure, every child wants to take part.
Explore Better. Move Better. Grow Better.

The aim isn’t simply to complete activities. It’s to help every child leave PE feeling successful, confident and excited to move again.
