Year 8 Drama: Frankenstein – Complete Scheme of Work
A fully resourced and engaging KS3 Drama unit based on Philip Pullman’s adaptation of Frankenstein. Students explore the fascinating story behind Mary Shelley’s creation of the novel before bringing key moments from the play to life through performance and design work.

The scheme includes a detailed lesson PowerPoint, practical drama activities, mini quizzes, discussion tasks, peer assessment materials and differentiated pathways for both performers and designers.

Students develop a range of Drama skills including characterisation, ensemble performance, physical theatre, soundscapes, devising, movement work inspired by Frantic Assembly, and theatrical design.

Also included are supporting worksheets: an acting help sheet exploring Mary Shelley’s inspiration for Frankenstein and a design task focused on creating Victor Frankenstein’s laboratory.

The unit culminates in a practical assessment combining performance, physical theatre and design skills, making it ideal preparation for GCSE Drama. Ready to teach with minimal preparation required.
