In this activity, students will examine the causes, events and consequences of the Medieval Crusades, a series of religious wars fought between Christians and Muslims for control of Jerusalem and the Holy Land from 1095 to 1291. They will explore how Pope Urban II’s call to arms led to nearly two centuries of conflict that transformed the political, cultural and religious relationships between Europe and the Middle East.
