In this activity, students will examine how the Aztec, beginning as a migrating tribe speaking Nahuatl, became the leading power in central and southern Mexico between 1325 and 1521. They will explore the role of engineering, military expansion, religious belief, and agricultural development in building and sustaining the empire from its island capital, Tenochtitlan.

It has 8 questions for students to answer, as well as a paragraph response section for them to demonstrate their understanding of the topic.
