Number Target Challenge Level 14 is intended for pupils who are ready for sustained arithmetic problem-solving. Targets are more difficult to approach directly, and solutions often depend on identifying an important intermediate value several steps before reaching the answer.

Pupils must balance ambitious calculations with control. Creating a large product may appear helpful, but it is only useful when there is a realistic way to adjust it to the exact target.

Level 14 can support KS3 or KS4 enrichment, high-attaining groups, maths-club sessions, competitions, revision and extension activities.
