This resource provides a comprehensive bank of exam-style 15-mark questions for OCR Classical Civilisation: Myth and Religion (H408/12).

Questions are carefully designed to:

  • Encourage direct comparison between Greek and Roman religion
  • Reflect OCR exam wording and structure
  • Cover all key topics in the specification:
    Gods
    Heracles/Hercules
Temples and religion in the city
    Foundation myths
    Festivals
    Myth and symbols of power
    Death and burial
    Journey to the Underworld

Questions phrased in a variety of ways (e.g. “How far do you agree?”, “Which…?”, “To what extent…?”)

This resource does not include model answers, mark schemes, or writing prompts. Instead, students are encouraged to:

  • Use their own class notes and knowledge of classical sources
  • Practise selecting and applying relevant evidence (e.g. Homer, Ovid, Livy, Plutarch)
  • Develop independent essay planning and judgement skills

So as to:

  • Mirror real exam conditions
  • Build confidence in recall and argument construction
  • Avoid over-reliance on pre-prepared answers
  • Encourage deeper understanding of comparison between Greece and Rome

Best used for:

  • In-class timed essay practice
  • Homework tasks
  • Revision and consolidation
  • Stretch and challenge for high-achieving students
