During the early years (around the ages of 3-7 years) children are becoming aware of their basic emotions.

Social emotional learning supports them by giving a sense of what is going on around them, understanding their own feelings and those of others. It also supports a more positive mindset, giving children the ability to solve conflicts and make good friendships. This is a gentle start to help to teach self-regulation/co-regulation techniques.

This workbook has been designed to help children build on their emotional vocabulary by first looking at eight different emotions, how they make us feel inside and strategies to help. There are spaces for drawing and colouring where they can use their imagination to describe what they think a certain emotion might look like with shapes and colours (this is a very complimentary way of looking at feelings before labelling them).

Once complete, the booklet can be kept and referred back to.
Emotions: Emotions: surprised, sad, angry, proud, scared, worried, safe, happy.
