  • 3 weekly exit tickets — 5 multiple-choice questions per week, with teacher answer keys.
Final writing outcome

A rhyming narrative in which a baby jungle animal searches for its mother. The little creature meets four wrong animals first — each described with an adjective noun phrase — before finally finding the right parent. Children use capital letters and full stops, the joining word ‘and’, and question marks for the little animal’s pleading questions.

Grammar features (Year 1 NC-aligned)
  • Adjective noun phrases (expanded noun phrases for description).
  • Question marks and the joining word ‘and’.
Themes explored

A mother’s love and family identity, the misunderstandings of a well-meaning helper, the jungle as a busy, surprising setting.

Key vocabulary

Jungle, butterfly, puzzle, search, mother, swinging, stripy, scaly.

Format & compatibility
  • Editable PowerPoint (.pptx) and Word (.docx) files.
  • UK English spelling.
  • One printer-friendly A4 page per resource sheet.
  • Compatible with Literacy Tree, Write Stuff, and Power of Reading planning approaches.
