Develop secure understanding of essential mensuration vocabulary with this comprehensive Maths Literacy Anagrams: Mensuration resource. Designed for mixed-level KS3 and GCSE mathematics, the pack helps pupils recognise, recall and accurately spell the mathematical language used in questions involving area, perimeter, volume, measurement, unit conversion, scale and compound measures.

Each activity requires pupils to read a precise mathematical clue, identify the correct term, rearrange the scrambled letters and write the completed answer using the word-length support provided. Pupils therefore need to understand the definition before they can solve the anagram, making the resource a purposeful mathematical-literacy activity rather than a simple spelling puzzle.

The resource contains 10 different printable worksheet versions, with 10 clue-and-scramble questions on each worksheet, providing 100 pupil questions in total. Every worksheet has a corresponding solution page, allowing straightforward marking, self-assessment and whole-class feedback. The different versions make the resource suitable for repeated use, parallel classes, homework, intervention groups or distributing alternative sheets within the same classroom.

The pack includes:

• one combined printable PDF
• 10 pupil worksheet versions
• 10 matching solution pages
• 100 clue-based mensuration questions
• answer blanks and word-length support
• an editable 16:9 PowerPoint
• projection-ready question slides
• matching answer slides
• a product front sheet
• a catalogue structure page
• a product-specific overview

Vocabulary included: area, area of a circle, area of a trapezium, area of a triangle, best buy, capacity, compound unit, conversion, density, exchange rate, map scale, mass, metric unit, perimeter, rate, right prism, speed, surface area, unit, volume, volume of a cuboid, volume of a prism, volume of a sphere and weight.

This resource is ideal for starters, plenaries, retrieval practice, revision lessons, homework, cover work, tutoring, intervention and independent practice. The editable PowerPoint also allows teachers to work through the clues as a whole-class activity before revealing the answers.

The activity is particularly valuable for pupils who may be able to apply a formula or complete a calculation but are less confident with the terminology used in exam questions and written explanations. It strengthens definition recognition, mathematical spelling, precise vocabulary recall and confident interpretation of mensuration problems.

Print the required worksheet or open the editable PowerPoint for a flexible, no-preparation mathematics literacy activity.
