This 10-page EYFS and KS1 resource helps children learn about initial sounds q, r, x, y and z through pictures, words, tracing, writing and flashcard activities.
Each letter is introduced with two example words, such as q is for queen and quilt, r is for rat and robin, x is in fox and box, y is for yes and yo-yo, and z is for zoo and zebra.
Pages 1 and 2 show the pictures with words underneath for children to name, read, trace and colour, with both colour and black-and-white versions included.
Pages 3 and 4 encourage children to write the words under the pictures, again with colour and black-and-white options.
Pages 5 and 6 focus on tracing upper- and lower-case letters, then writing the letter or a word beginning with that sound underneath.
Pages 7 and 8 show the words with space for children to copy them and draw their own matching pictures.
Pages 9 and 10 provide a set of flashcards that can be duplicated, printed, cut out and laminated for matching games, phonics activities, speaking and listening work, displays or small-group teaching. Children can colour the black and white version.
