Let’s Count at Halloween 1 to 8 is a seasonal maths and early literacy resource designed for EYFS and KS1 children.
The pack includes 5 black-and-white activity sheets where children count groups of Halloween-themed pictures from 1 to 8, write the correct number word, identify and write what each group shows, and then colour the pictures in.
A further 5 matching sheets provide colourful worked examples, with a crayon-coloured effect that children can use as a guide or for checking their answers.
Featuring familiar Halloween images such as ghosts, monsters, bats, skulls, broomsticks and trick or treat sweets, the activities provide an engaging way to practise counting, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, number words, vocabulary, spelling and fine motor skills.
The resource is ideal for linking maths learning to Halloween as a special day or seasonal celebration.
Use the black-and-white sheets as an independent maths activity or small-group counting activity.
Children could count each set aloud before writing the number, match number cards to the correct pictures, compare groups using language such as more, fewer and the same, or order the numbers from 1 to 8.
The picture words can also support Halloween vocabulary, reading and early writing. The colourful worked examples can be displayed on the board, used for adult-led modelling, placed at a self-checking station, or used to encourage children to check their own counting.
Finish by letting children colour their sheets with crayons, creating a simple Halloween maths activity that combines numbers, language and creativity.
