• Explicitly teaches three language techniques: Direct definitions, examples, and reader-effect guidance for Alliteration, Onomatopoeia, and Hyperbole.*

• Includes sentence starters on how to analyse sound-based techniques without falling into common pitfalls of analysis such as saying the text is ‘immersive’ or ‘relatable’.* Explicit guidance on using ‘sounds like / mirrors / echoes’ for sound-based techniques.

• The ‘Point First’ Framework: An essential writing upgrade that shifts students away from jumping straight into a quote. It explicitly teaches a three-sentence paragraph model: Sentence 1: Clear Point, Sentence 2: Evidence + Technique, and Sentence 3: Developed Inference.

• Scaffolded Application (Dunkirk Theme): Uses high-quality, engaging fiction extracts themed around the setting of Dunkirk. Features a modelled ‘I Do’ teacher response, a collaborative ‘We Do’ text marking activity, and a fully independent ‘You Do’ exam practice response.
