These resources are based on a poem about a witch making a terrible soup. I used them with Y7 and Y8 on National Poetry Day - first they had to work out the words in the gaps in the original poem, by thinking about rhyming words, then they practised reading it out and worked out what it meant. They then rewrote the first section with ingredients of their own (which were very creative and made me laugh a lot!) and illustrated it. Pupils were very engaged and enjoyed the activity, especially as it wasn't far off Halloween.
