KS3 Excel Lesson – Introduction to IF & ELSE Logic (Lesson 4 of 6)

A creative, engaging and accessible KS3 Computer Science / ICT lesson introducing students to IF and ELSE functions through practical modelling and logic-based challenges.

Building on earlier lessons in the Learning Excel series, students explore how selection works inside spreadsheets and how logical statements allow Excel to make decisions automatically. This lesson helps learners move from simple formulas to dynamic, responsive models.

What Students Will Learn

Students will:

  • Understand the purpose of IF and ELSE in spreadsheets

  • Write IF statements using logical operators:

    • = equal to
    • > greater than
    • < less than
