This Upper KS2 RE unit explores why people hold different belief positions, using psychology, theology and philosophy to help pupils understand ideas about God, non-belief and Humanism. Across six fully planned lessons, pupils compare worldviews, study biblical stories, examine mental images of God, and consider evidence-based approaches. The unit supports thoughtful, respectful discussion and links clearly to RE curriculum aims.

★ Lesson 3 – Psychology Lens: Investigate how people form mental images of God using a snowflake activity.
★ Lesson 4 – Theology Lens: Use paraphrased biblical stories to identify qualities Christians believe God shows.
★ Lesson 5 – Humanism: Examine why some people do not believe in God and how Humanists use evidence and reason.
★ Lesson 6 – Reflection: Pupils identify their own belief position using silhouettes and a belief continuum.
