In thus resource, there are 5 lessons all to do with expectations and research get to know me activities for Year 6. The first lesson focuses on you as their teacher, provide your class with pictures and objects all about you and the children have to predict and infer about your life and personality. This is a great resource if you are a new teacher to the year group or the school. The second part of this lesson is creative and allows the children to show you their personalities by creating a self portrait on one side and using the other side to show off important things to them. Next, the third activity is to create a reading river- these can be books, films and TV shows that have been important to them. This works in the older years especially as they can reflect and discuss important pop culture moments. The next lesson includes building a resource area your class… the writing wall. Can the children come up with better alternatives to the banned words? Allowing the children to create this display alongside you in these early days will ensure they keep using it as the year goes on. Finally, creating a class charter and framing it as promises, I have included some questions to think about and a photo frame for the children to draw themselves and sign their artwork as a commitment to the promises!

I intend on using chapter 1-4 from Holes by Louis Sachar for the Narrative Nourishment.

I hope this helps!
