In this activity, students will examine the social structure of the Inca Empire and explore how each level of society (from the Sapa Inca at the top to the yanaconas at the bottom) contributed to the empire’s stability. They will also investigate key institutions such as the ayllu and the mita system to understand how the Incas organised labour, distributed resources, and maintained authority across one of the most powerful pre-Columbian civilisations in the Americas.
