This IB Maths AI HL 2.8 resource introduces transformations of graphs, including translations, reflections, stretches, and composite transformations, and is fully aligned with the IB Applications and Interpretation HL syllabus.

Students learn how transformations change the position, size, and orientation of a graph. The notes explain key transformation language, including images of graphs, reflections in the axes, vertical and horizontal stretches, and translations using vectors.

The resource helps students connect geometric descriptions with equation changes, including how a graph moves left, right, up, or down, and why horizontal transformations inside brackets can feel opposite.

Structured examples guide students through translating and reflecting quadratic graphs, finding new vertex positions, writing transformed functions, and sketching transformed images. The notes also develop students’ understanding of the order of transformations when more than one change is applied.

Ideal for IB Maths AI HL teachers teaching graph transformations, vector translations, reflections, stretches, composite transformations, and graph sketching.

This pairs great with our slidedeck!
