This IB Maths AI SL 5.5 – Anti-differentiation (Student Notes & Worksheet) resource develops students’ understanding of antiderivatives, the constant of integration, and definite integrals in a clear, structured format. Students explore how anti-differentiation “undoes” differentiation, why general solutions require + C, and how derivatives and antiderivatives are connected .

Core practice builds fluency with basic power rules and solving problems involving initial conditions, before extending to definite integrals as signed area under a curve . Challenging extension questions include total area problems, motion contexts (velocity and displacement), and area between curves.
