Homes Alphabet Search with Symbols is a visual alphabet activity for SEND and KS1 learners using familiar Boardmaker licensed symbols and some pictures.
The resource includes 3 themed worksheets in colour, each duplicated in black and white, making it suitable for whole-class teaching, small-group work, or individual and supported learning.
Children search for home-related symbols that match each letter of the alphabet, including furniture, pets, kitchen items, bedroom and bathroom objects, toys, food, and household equipment.
Suggested classroom uses:
Children identify each picture and say the initial sound to support phonics and early reading, then tick the letter, write the sound, or label the object on a white board or in their workbook.
The sheets can be used for sentence work, with children saying or writing simple sentences (e.g. “The sofa is in the living room.”), or for sorting activities, such as grouping items by room (kitchen, bedroom, bathroom) or by type (food, toys, furniture).
The resource supports reading, writing, speaking and listening, builds everyday vocabulary, and is suited to inclusive classroom practice and home-themed topics.
