History - KS1 - The Wright Brothers (6 Lessons + PowerPoint)
Suitable for KS1

This high-quality planning (2873 words), 70-slide PowerPoint and resources includes 6 lessons that answers the question; Would we have airplanes if it wasn’t for the Wright Brothers?

The 6 lessons cover;

  1. What happened on 17 December 1903?
  2. How do we know that the Wright Brothers were the first to fly?
  3. How was the Wright Flyer designed?
  4. How did the Wright Brothers achieve what they did?
  5. Does anyone still remember the Wright Brothers?
  6. Would we have airplanes if it wasn’t for the Wright Brothers?

This resource includes everything you need to teach the above lessons. It includes the planning, a 70-slide PowerPoint and all the resources (29 in total). The planning is highly engaging and everything is visually appealing, it also includes 4 levels of differentiation:

  • SEN
  • Scaffold for the main task
  • Main task
  • Challenge

There are a range of activities, including crafts, being assigned a secret mission, construction, short writing, and cutting and sticking. All the physical resources likely to be found within a school.

The planning refers to ‘disciplinary knowledge’ and ‘substantive knowledge’. More information regarding these ideas can be found in Ofsted’s Research Review Series: History.

Please note: the PowerPoint is split into 3 files due to TES’ file upload limit. In a few instances I could not insert pictures due to copyright restrictions, however the links are provided for where the images can be found.

Please leave a review if you are happy with this product; I would really appreciate it. If you have any questions or comments please email me on skyboundstudies@outlook.com
