A complete, no-prep 100-mark worksheet on heredity — ready to use for lessons, homework, or revision with KS3 Biology students aged 11-14.

Heredity is the process of passing features from parents to their offspring through reproduction. This worksheet covers the full topic from reproduction and offspring through to inherited features, variation, and why siblings look similar but not identical.

Structured across three sections of progressive difficulty: Section 1 (30 marks) covers core knowledge — reproduction, offspring, species, the nucleus, inherited features, variation, and siblings — through multiple choice questions, a true/false table, and a 10-gap fill-in-the-blank passage. Section 2 (40 marks) builds understanding through written definitions, a key term matching activity, short answer questions on why babies inherit from both parents, visible and invisible inherited features, the cockapoo case study, and an explanation of variation between siblings using key vocabulary. Section 3 (30 marks) challenges students with three extended writing tasks: evaluating the Lucas and Sofia terrier discussion, comparing identical twins with non-identical siblings, and explaining variation in a litter of kittens from a black cat and a white cat. A full answer key with detailed marking guidance is included.

Also available: a companion extension pack with four enrichment activities, or save £1 with the complete lesson bundle — both listed on the iNewittAll TES store.

The accompanying YouTube video is Google Classroom ready — simply copy the link directly into your Classroom assignment.
