This 6-week Geography Scheme of Work explores the important and relevant topic of global warming. Designed for KS2 learners, this unit helps pupils understand how human activity is impacting the planet and what can be done to create a more sustainable future.

Throughout the topic, pupils investigate the causes of global warming, including the use of fossil fuels and the production of greenhouse gases. They explore the differences between renewable and non-renewable energy sources, considering how energy choices affect the environment and why a shift towards sustainable energy is important.

Pupils also examine a real-world case study of Iceland, learning how the country uses renewable energy sources such as geothermal and hydroelectric power. This allows pupils to see how countries can respond to environmental challenges in different ways.

The unit encourages pupils to think critically about the impact of global warming, including rising temperatures and environmental change, and to consider what individuals and communities can do to reduce their impact on the planet.
