A fully resourced GCSE Geography lesson designed to introduce pupils to the key coastal management strategies used to protect coastlines from erosion and flooding. Through engaging explanations, high-quality visuals and real-world examples, pupils learn why coastlines require management before comparing the advantages, disadvantages and long-term sustainability of both hard and soft engineering approaches.

The lesson explores sea walls, groynes, rock armour, gabions, beach nourishment, dune regeneration and managed retreat, before applying this knowledge to the Holderness Coast case study.
