French Telling the Time Word Wall | French Classroom Display | Ideal for a range of proficiency levels e.g. Primary French, KS2 French, KS3 French, Scotland P4 - P7 French, S1-S3 French (Curriculum for Excellence), and International School programmes at CEFR A1 level. A great introduction to telling the time in French, o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past the hour, plus midday (noon) and midnight. Students are able to see how to structure key time phrases accurately, developing their recall, reading and spelling skills. It’s a really useful addition to your French Telling the Time unit of work.

The set includes the following non-editable ready-to-print PDFs in a zipped format:

  • 56 Word Wall Cards | Clock times 1-12, including midday and midnight, o’clock, half past, quarter to & quarter past the hour e.g. Il est une heure. | Il est minuit et demi. | Il est neuf heures moins le quart. | 2 cards per A4 page, landscape format.
  • 2 Header Cards | « Quelle heure est-il ? » and « Il est quelle heure ? »
  • Two Formats | French flag background for a vibrant classroom display; plain to keep prep costs low.

Teacher Tips:

  • Maximise the learning potential of classroom display: the word wall provides instant and useful speaking prompts to develop French speaking skills and promote French target language use such as « Quelle heure est-il maintenant ? » or « À quelle heure finissent les cours aujourd’hui ? ». This progresses to more detailed communicative exchanges such as « Tu te lèves à quelle heure en semaine ? » or « À quelle heure tu te réveilles le week-end ? ».

  • Vary your classroom display regularly, focusing on either the current unit of work for additional practice and reinforcement, or on a previous unit for review and refresh - this prevents them from becoming “invisible” to students.

  • Terms of Use:
All files are ready-to-print, non-editable PDFs in zipped formats. The product is copyrighted, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use carefully.
