This activity can be used in your French language classroom as a final project/culminating activity for your beginner/lower-intermediate French students.

How to use this resource:

  1. Have your students bring in an artifact form home (this can be a special object to them, for example, a stuffed animal, a collectible item, a photo, an award, etc.) 2. Have them share about their object with the class using simple sentences (ex. Voici mon artéfact, c’est un/une …, J’aime cet objet parce que …etc.)

  2. Have them produce a written piece of work (a short paragraph describing their object using basic expressions (ex. J’ai …, C’est un/une, J’aime … c’est + adjectif descriptif, etc.)

  3. Evaluate their oral communication and writing skills in French using the evaluation rubric (link to editable rubric included with this resource.)

Please note: I have included the Ontario curriculum writing and speaking skills expectations taken directly from the Ontario French curriculum for Grade 4. However, you can modify this by choosing different expectations for a different grade or using different curriculum standards.
