  • Complete teacher unit plan — unit overview, key themes, model texts (WT/ARE/GD), full session-by-session plans, key questions, assessment focus, and vocabulary focus.
  • Child-friendly mark scheme — “I can…” success criteria for the final writing piece, ready for self- and peer-assessment.
  • 3 weekly exit tickets — 5 multiple-choice questions per week, with teacher answer keys.
Final writing outcome

A two-part publication for the Manod Visitor Centre: (1) a humorous first-person narrative chapter, written in the voice of Dylan Hughes, recounting the night the great paintings of the National Gallery were secretly hidden in the slate caverns of Manod and the chaotic ‘art heist’ that nearly went wrong; and (2) a non-chronological ‘Famous Paintings of Manod’ visitor guide describing four of the masterpieces that came to the village, written for families visiting north Wales.

Grammar features (Year 5 NC-aligned)
  • Relative clauses (using who, which, that, whose, where) to add descriptive detail to nouns — including embedded relative clauses within longer sentences.
  • Parenthesis using brackets to add factual or humorous extra information without breaking the flow of a sentence.
