A no-prep 2-player grammar game where students build correct English sentences from word tiles and practise six key tenses.

Make grammar practice more active with this interactive Grammar Battle game. Students compete in a 2-player speed challenge by tapping word tiles in the correct order to build full English sentences.

This browser-based activity is ideal for grammar review, sentence building, tense practice, ESL / EFL lessons, whole-class revision, pair work, team competitions, starter activities and end-of-lesson challenges.

The game includes:

  • 2-player grammar battle mode
  • Sentence building with word tiles
  • Custom player names
  • Countdown timer
  • Start, pause and reset controls
  • Correct and wrong answer tracking
  • Reaction animations
  • Wrong answer review
  • Reveal correct answer button
  • Tense filters
  • Question Manager
  • Add single questions
  • Batch question import
  • Clear custom questions option
  • Colourful classroom-friendly design
  • Browser-based HTML format

Students practise building accurate sentences across six grammar areas:

  • Present Simple
  • Present Continuous
  • Simple Past
  • Simple Future
  • Present Perfect
  • Past Perfect

This game helps students notice word order, tense markers, auxiliary verbs, time expressions and sentence structure. It is especially useful for students who know grammar rules but need more practice producing complete sentences accurately.

Teachers can use the built-in sentence bank or customise the game by adding their own sentences. The batch import feature makes it easier to turn a grammar list or worksheet into an interactive classroom game.

How to use:
Download the HTML file and open it in a modern web browser such as Chrome, Edge or Safari. Enter player names, choose the tenses you want to practise, set the game duration, and click Start Battle. Students tap the word tiles in order, submit their answer, and review mistakes at the end.

  • English grammar practice
  • Sentence building
  • Tense review
  • ESL / EFL classes
  • Primary English
  • Upper primary review
  • Pair work
