AQA GCSE Geography lesson for Unit 2C: In this lesson we look at the advantages and disadvantages of extracting natural gas.

There is a retrieval practice starter based on the content from the previous lessons. We begin by looking at the formation of natural gas. The students have three diagrams and they need to work out where the annotations go to help explain the process. We then look at which countries have the most natural gas and who is exporting the most natural gas. The students will use a map to create proportional symbol map to show the amount of gas each country exports. We then look at the advantages and disadvantages of the extraction of natural gas, the students have a worksheet to complete a colour-coding and highlighting task. We then look at an example which is the Camisea Project and the students create a continuum line and annotate this with the benefits and drawbacks of the scheme.

We finish with 9-mark GCSE-style evaluation question based on the content of the lesson and the students have some tips and guidance on how to answer it if required. They also have a writing frame.

Hope this saves you some valuable planning time.
