Edexcel IGCSE English Language Paper 1 Section A Q5 lesson, exploring an extract from H is for Hawk by Helen Macdonald (from the anthology for component 1) and another provided text on rescuing an injured pigeon.

We look at non-fiction texts and AO3, selecting key information and making interpretations, exploring the use of tone, purpose, audience, forms/types, as well as the use of language and structure.

We explore a model Q5 answer and how it draws comparisons between Text 1 and Text 2, before using success criteria and modelled examples to create effective draft answers for the comparing task of Paper 1/Component 1.

Designed for Edexcel IGCSE Specification A (4EA1), differentiated throughout. It is full of adaptive learning strategies that are useful for a range of abilities.
