An Excel spreadsheet which I have been working on (on and off) for the better part of 10 years.

This sheet really saves me a lot of time, and could save you a lot of time too.

What can it do that a paper markbook can’t?

  1. Calculate a % from a raw score (and total)
  2. Apply a custom grade boundaries to this %, and assign a grade automatically.
  3. Colour-code the grade to show whether it is above, on, or below the student’s target.
  4. Provides a handy report with a graph showing the student’s progress over time compared with their target grade. A real time saver for parent’s evening!

I suggest making one copy of this sheet per class you teach. Max number of students supported per class = 32 for weird reasons.
